We went to Baker City for the 4th of July weekend again this year. It was hard to imagine that last year, Lucas was just 5 months old. Dad took us to the Oregon Trail Museum and Lucas just LOVED it. All the animals in the exhibits were just amazing to him. He especially loved the sheep, which he kept pointing and saying, "baa baa." While we were there, we showed Brent how to play Pinochle. I have to say, he picked up the game pretty quickly, and even won a few hands. :) It was a nice relaxing trip and always nice to visit Dad. Lucas just loves his Papa.

Update on Lucas stuff:

In just the last week or two, Lucas has increased his communication skills. You can tell that he understands a lot of what we say now. He shakes his head yes or no, makes MORE animals sounds, and started saying please (pees). He can say a few full words, like car, pool, and believe it or not.....Jesus. My Mom would be so proud! He calls babies and his lovey "Mama," which is kind of funny. For names, he says Mama, Dada, Papa (Grandpa), Ki (Kim), B (Brent), Tal (Talan).

He is still quite the sleeper. He sleeps around 11-12 hours at night and if he takes two naps they are around 2-3 hours long. On the days he sleeps longer than 7:30, he usually only takes one nap for about 3 hours. He has all four molars, top k9's, and is working on his bottom k9's now. And of course, Lucas is still a wiggle worm, running all over the place, and showing off his dance moves at any opportunity.

However, with all that fun, he is turning into a toddler. The tantrums have begun, which he loves to do whenever we bring him inside or if we don't let him go outside. Throwing food, whining, clingy, and has become more shy with strangers. He actually cries now when we leave him. Of course it is short lived, but I hate it. I hope this is just a phase and he will be his outgoing self with others again soon. Maybe a new brother or sister would help. :)
