First, can I just say that the more snow we get, the more I wish for spring to come. I know we have had some "spring like" days this winter, but I am ready for more. Lucas doesn't seem to mind though. Daddy took him out to build a snowman and he thought it was the best!

Last weekend we drove through the snowy mountain pass to Newport. Amazingly, there was even snow just outside of Newport. I have never seen that before. Luckily, while we were there we didn't have a drop of rain and really nice weather (but cold). Carina and Tim met us over there and we took Lucas to the OSU Science Center and Aquarium. He loved the fish, crabs, sharks, and octopus. Even though he was more involved this year compared to last year, it still is a lot for him to see and do. He was DONE after a couple hours. We had a great time just getting away and spending time with one of our favorite couples! Thanks for coming with us Carina and Tim!
Lucas loved to run around outside more than anything else.

I am officially in my third trimester. I feel a lot of emotions as I head into my 7th month. I am happy to be getting close to meeting my son, nervous about going into early labor and going past 34 weeks (which is unknown territory for me), and a little sad that it is almost over. I love being pregnant and am really going to try and enjoy these last 2-3 months with Lucas. I know there are going to be so many changes ahead and thinking about them is a little daunting. One step at a time, right?

This weekend we headed out to Newport, OR. Lucas was a trooper on the 4 hour road trip and we were fortunate enough to have our good friends, Carina and Tim, meet us out there. We enjoyed good conversation, pinochle, fresh marionberry pie, and on our one sunny day, play time on the beach! Of course we made sure we visited the Chowder Bowl and The Coffee Shop for breakfast. It wouldn't be a trip to Newport without our favorite places to eat.
It was so fun to watch Lucas experience sand and the cold ocean water. Once he figured out how to dig in the sand, it was all over. That is all over the place! The kid LOVES sand and especially nice big hunks of it to put in his mouth. He was so wore out after playing, he fell asleep in Daddy's arms on our walk home.
Three nights at the beach house are just not enough. Kevin and I thought we at least needed a week there, but we are grateful for the relaxing getaway that we had. Until next time.....

Lucas and I went to Baker City for Labor Day weekend. We actually surprised Dad and Kim and followed Eric and Crystal up there. It was nice to spend time with family. Kevin went hunting all weekend. Unfortunately, he hasn't seen anything yet. He still has three more weekends to get out, so we are keeping our fingers crossed. September has been a busy month so far. I have a client that is due at the end of the month and my doula work has kept me super busy.
Lucas has been sick the past two weeks. Poor little guy. He is still pretty happy though. He has started sitting up by himself, standing on his own while holding on to something, and really becoming more aware of the world around him. He loves going on walks in his stroller, being outside, jumping in his jumperoo, and putting anything he can in his mouth. He is getting more difficult to nurse because he gets so distracted. I find that I have to go into a quiet place to feed him, or else it takes FOREVER! He is a lot of fun though and we feel so blessed to have him.
Tickets are booked to go visit Kevin's family in Wisconsin for Thanksgiving. We are going for 10 days. It will be the first time we take Lucas on a plane! We are looking forward to it and having Lucas meet his Aunt, Uncle, and cousins for the first time. Should be fun!

Lucas is officially a "thumb sucker" now. When we lay him down to sleep, he turns to his side, grabs his little blanket and sucks his thumb to sleep. It is so cute.
I love this picture. He looks like he is in deep thought.
