ZOO:
Sarah, Joe, and Maddie came over for the weekend and we took the kids to the zoo. Even though it wasn't warm, it didn't rain and thank goodness for that. The kids had a good time seeing the animals and Lucas' favorite was the black bears. We bought an annual pass, so there will be many more trips to come!

What happened to January? This month has been such a busy and stressful month for me. I am so happy to see it come to an end. I have been on-call as a Doula for 4 clients this month. Two, as their primary Doula and the other two are as back up. So far, only one of those clients has had her baby. Both of my primary clients should be going into labor any day now. I am really looking forward to going to another birth. My last one was in November and I itching to see another baby brought into this world. I plan on taking a break in February and then March will be my last month taking on any new clients until this fall. With so many friends trying to get pregnant right now, I am hoping for lots of births this fall/winter! If I am lucky enough, I may even get to be a Doula for some of them:)
Dad moved into the farmhouse this month. He just came and picked up Riley. Riley (his dog) has been staying with us since Thanksgiving and I am sure they are both glad to be reunited again. Lucas, on the other hand, is going to miss having Riley around. He just loves her. We hope to make a trip over to Walla Walla in late March/early April. I am anxious to get over there and help decorate!

Today I am 6 months prego. I look more like I am 7 months along and seem to be packing on the pounds lately. I am really not used to that since I hardly gained any weight with Lucas. Oh well, what can I do? I have a feeling this baby is going to be a big boy. :) How nice will it be to have a full, chubby baby boy this time around? Oh, except for delivery.....smaller sounds better.

Also, last weekend Kevin and I brought the two twin beds that were in our garage and set them up in the nursery and in Lucas' "big boy" room. Right now, Lucas is still sleeping in his crib in the nursery, but we plan on transitioning him into the big boy room by March. I am really not ready to make this move, but I want to do it before the baby is born. When we changed up the nursery it took Lucas two weeks to get back to a normal sleep pattern. What is it going to be like when he goes into a toddler bed???? YIKES!

What a month! I don't remember a December going by as fast as this one did. It seemed like the moment we got our tree, lights on the house, stockings hung, and decorations put up, I was putting them all away. So sad to see it end. This Christmas was more exciting for Lucas. He loved Santa Clause, reindeer, snowmen, Christmas trees, and lights. When asked to say Merry Christmas, Lucas would say, "Merry Christmas Tree" every time. So stinkin' cute. He enjoyed opening up the presents, but I think it was a little overwhelming with all the new toys to play with. Still, it was super fun to experience Christmas through his eyes.
My Dad "officially" moved to Walla Walla, WA. He still comes back to Baker City to tend to his house that is for sale. Hopefully after this winter, he will sell it and really get to settle into his new home. As of now he is staying in a hotel until he can find a rental. Riley has been staying with us since Thanksgiving while he is transitioning over there. I think Riley will really be glad to get away from the toddler, but Lucas will be sad to see her leave. He absolutely loves her.
Kim is moving in two weeks to California. I am really bummed that she is leaving, but excited for her and her new adventures. She has been an enormous help with Lucas and I don't know what I am going to do without her here. Lucas is really going to miss his Aunt Kim too. She won't be back until the baby is born in May. It will be the longest we have gone without seeing each other. I guess it will be back to talking on the phone twice a day:)

The pregnancy has been going great. I really noticed a change in my belly around week 19. It seemed I all of sudden popped out. I felt the baby move at 17 weeks and Kevin and Kim got to feel him move on Christmas Eve. This is one of the many things I love about being pregnant. I have been doing my progesterone shots for four weeks now and so far no side effects. I have a good feeling that I will be able to bake this baby until he is term this time.
I have been asked to join Harmony Doulas. I am super excited about this and I already have my first client! January is going to be a busy month, as I am on call for this birth and back up for two others. I am hoping to do as much doula work as my body will let me before May. After that I will be taking a break until baby #2 is at least 4 months old. So excited for all the new babies to come!!
Speaking of baby #2.....this is what we will be calling him because Kevin and I can't agree on boys' names. So, if anyone has any strong masculine name suggestions....we are all ears!

Wow, it has been such a busy summer. A couple weekends ago, Kevin and I spent our first weekend away without Lucas. Kevin has always wanted to go backpacking since he first moved to Oregon and so I thought it would be fun for us to go for a couple nights. I was worried that it would be too difficult for me since I haven't worked out in forever, but Kevin made sure we didn't do anything too strenuous. We went to Twin Pillars in the Ochoccos. It was a ton of fun and surprisingly, I made it out without being too sore or having too many bug bites.

After we got home, we had a few days to settle in before we flew out to Wisconsin. Flying with a toddler is a whole other experience. It takes so much energy out of you to keep your child entertained and not crying. We spent the first few nights in the twin cities. It was nice to see all his friends and family and be able to go out to a nice dinner, just the two of us. Thanks Jessica!!! After that, we headed north to his Dad's cabin where we spent the rest of the week with Annette, Dave, and the Bratsch family. Annette and Kevin's Dad took us out "bear hunting" (right now is training season, so they can't actually kill the bear). It was really awesome to see a bear and I do have to say, they are SOOO cute. I also got to experience extreme humidity and plenty of mosquito bites. I swear any and all bugs are like magnets to me. No one else seemed to get eaten up like I did. Maybe they knew I had Oregon blood. Overall, it was a fun trip and always sad to say goodbye.
Unfortunately, I dropped the camera on our way up north and it wouldn't turn on after that. So, I don't have many photos. :( I guess now we will start saving for another camera.
I love how I have to stick out my tongue too. This was the best ice cream I have ever had.

Last weekend we went to Redding, CA for the Brand family reunion. It was so much fun to see everyone and their families. As always it was very HOT and so we spent most of our time inside with the A/C or near water. Lucas loved to meet his cousins Madison and Seth for the first time. Seth let Lucas play with his Hot Wheels and became a very good little babysitter! My Aunt Julie put together a slide show of the family (past and present) which was so wonderful, it brought most of us to tears. It was a really nice trip and hope to be celebrating another get together for Grandma and Grandpa's 60th wedding anniversary next year. That is something to be proud of!!
