So we asked if he minded if we tried some stuff to try to get labor going for Gina. He said he didn't mind and he would let the nurses know. So here is what we tried: rocking in a rocking chair, bouncing on our "birth ball" (exercise ball), leaning on the birth ball in a squat, leaning over the back of a chair, standing and slow dancing. We tried these techniques our for a little over an hour. We got a couple of contractions, but nothing very regular. Gina got pretty drowsy so we both slept from 10:00pm to 2:00am. It was nice to get some rest and we were glad that Gina was able to eat yesterday so her strength would be up.
When Gina stood up this morning to relieve herself the baby's heartbeat dropped off again. We got her laid down right away and it came right back up. It seems like if we try to slow the labor process the baby wants to speed it up. When we want to speed things up the baby wants to slow it down. This little stinker has already got Gina and I on a short leash! We are so excited to meet our baby!
