The Samuel Family

Lucas gained weight again. He is now at his birth weight of 5lbs and 4oz. He is steadily gaining an ounce a day which is exactly what he should be doing. We are so proud of him.

He has also decided that he would like to nurse every hour to two hours. He also doesn't seem to like it if Mom puts him back in his bassinet when he falls asleep. He would rather one of us be holding him. So, that is mostly what we do.....and we love every minute of it. We think that has something to do with how well he is doing. They say that "kangaroo care" is one of the best things to do with your preemie.

We gave Lucas his first bath on Thursday. We aren't as efficient as the nurses yet, but he seemed to love it. Once his umbilical cord falls off, we can submerge him in water. Until then, they are just sponge baths.
