Lucas gained weight last night and was discharged this afternoon. He didn't eat much last night after his circumcision, car seat test, and bath. He was too tuckered out. They want to make sure he continues to gain weight, so we have to go and have him weighed tomorrow and Saturday. If he looses weight, we may need to give him the supplemented breast milk out of a bottle more often. Right now he is breastfeeding only with two additional supplemented bottles. These add some extra calories to his diet to help him pack on the pounds (or should I say ounces). The Doctor and nurses were very impressed that he was almost 100% breastfeeding at such a young age. I am so proud of him.
Unfortunately, per Doctor's orders, if you come and visit us, you will not be able to hold Lucas. He said that when too many people hold him, it can really wear him out and he needs to save all his calories for eating. Also, with it being RSV season, anyone that comes over has to be 100% healthy and will need to wash their hands. RSV to adults is just the common cold, but can be very dangerous for preemies and can send them back to the NICU or worse.
Thank you to everyone for all your support, thoughts, and prayers. We are truly blessed by our amazing family and friends.
